Pirates Of The Super-Sargasso

I made a vow that I’d be part of at least one PBP game in 2021, even if I had to run it myself. So here is that game. It’ll be a seafaring adventure based on the search for D.B. Cooper’s lost treasure, using the PBTA game Fellowship. It’s set in a setting of my own creation (sort of), the Otherside. What is the Otherside? Read on.

The Otherside is a massive dream-realm that serves as the physical manifestation of humanity’s collective unconscious/dreams/sense of narrative causality. The Otherside is split into five elemental sectors: the Hollow Earth, the Inferno, the Super-Sargasso, the Zephyrium, and the Continuum. The various other worlds imagined by humanity exist in these realms- Atlantis, Agartha, Hell, Mount Olympus, Oz, Lovecraft’s Dreamlands, and so on. This game would be set in the Super-Sargasso, the largest and most populated of the realms. The Sargasso is not just a “plane of water”, but the place where all lost things eventually end up.

The inhabitants of the Otherside are either humans who have crossed over from a physical universe that intersects with it or “dreamborn”, beings formed from the same collective mythology that created the Otherside itself. Some dreamborn are indistinguishable from humans (though usually with an identifiable “genre”), while others are elves, dwarves, grey aliens, vampires, and so on.

So someone with the Orc playbook could be a miltonian fallen angel, a folkloric gremlin, or even an orc from Middle-Earth itself who decided “fuck this” and went off to sea. Playing as existing fictional characters is also acceptable, so you could be Count Dracula or Huck Finn or Captain Nemo or another person from myth, legend, or pop culture

The primary antagonists are the naval forces of the Empire Of Albion, a nation in the Super-Sargasso formed from Britain’s lost dreams of empire.

So that’s what I have so far!
